About 2000 years ago there stood a Man in Jerusalem and He said something like this, “If you acknowledge your sinfulness and believe on Me, God will give you His Holy Spirit and your life will change and never be the same again.” In 1960 I did what the Man had said and, lo and behold, I found that His words are true. I received God’s Holy Spirit and my life changed and has not been the same ever since. AMAZING. Not only that, but I started discovering that there were others around me who had had the same experience, and then, as I traveled, because of my work, all over Europe, Canada and parts of the US, I met many who had God’s Holy Spirit just like I. Then I heard from reliable sources that in South America there are millions upon millions of people like me. And from my two daughters and three granddaughters who have all been in Africa, I heard that there are millions and millions of such like people on that continent. And in the Middle East, there are many, yes, many people who have that same Spirit. Further east, in China, estimates are between 50 million and 100 million people who have had the same experience as I. AMAZING. And as time passed, I discovered there are people like me all over the world, in pretty well every country, from every culture, and from every age, and every level of intelligence, black people, white people, colored people, and you name it. And to my great surprise and delight, I found out that all these people had one common bond, God’s Holy Spirit and together formed the largest family and the greatest living organism on earth, and I am part of that. That has all come to pass because of what that Man said 2000 years ago. How does one explain that? AMAZING. Are you part of this family?

Zo’n 2000 jaar geleden stond er een Man in Jeruzalem die ongeveer het volgende zei: “Als je je zondigheid toegeeft en in Mij gelooft, zal God je zijn Heilige Geest geven, hetgeen je leven zo zal veranderen dat je nooit meer dezelfde zult zijn.” In 1960 deed ik wat de Man gezegd had, en ja hoor, zijn woorden werden bewaarheid, ik ontving Gods Geest, mijn leven veranderde en ik ben nooit meer dezelfde geweest. VERBAZINGWEKKEND. Niet alleen dat, maar ik ontdekte dat er heel wat mensen om mij heen dezelfde ervaring hadden gehad. En daarna, toen ik, omwille van mijn werk, begon rond te reizen door heel wat landen in Europa, Canada en streken van de VS, ontmoette ik velen die ook Gods Geest hadden, net zoals ik. En toen hoorde ik uit betrouwbare bronnen dat er in Zuid-Amerika miljoenen en nog eens miljoenen van zulke mensen wonen. En van mijn twee dochters en drie kleindochters, die allemaal voor enige tijd in Afrika geweest zijn, hoorde ik dat er op dat continent miljoenen en miljoenen mensen met Gods Geest zijn. En ook in het Midden-Oosten, zelfs in Moslimlanden zijn er duizenden en nog eens duizenden mensen met dezelfde ervaring als ik. En nog verder naar het Oosten, bijvoorbeeld in China, de schattingen zijn dat er tussen de 50 en 100 miljoen mensen zijn die Gods Geest hebben ontvangen. Echt VERBAZINGWEKKEND. Ik ontdekte dat er overall in de wereld mensen zijn, in bijna ieder land, in iedere cultuur, van elke leeftijd, eenvoudige mensen en intelligente, zwarte mensen, blanken, gekleurde en noem maar op, die allemaal die ervaring hebben gehad. En tot mijn grote verbazing en verheuging merkte ik op dat er één gemeenschappelijke band bestaat, Gods Heilige Geest. Al die mensen tezamen vormen de grootste family en het voornaamste levende organisme op aarde, en ik maak daar deel van uit. En dat is allemaal gekomen door wat die Man zei ongeveer 2000 jaar geleden. Hoe verklaart u dat? ABSOLUUT VERBAZINGWEKKEND. Maakt u ook deel uit van deze grote familie?

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1.

Have you ever looked at the insight of a clock or one of these modern-day watches? How fine and complex everything is? And all the little parts must be exactly in place, otherwise, the thing does not work. That’s the way it is with our universe and earth. The universe is extremely fine-tuned or designed. There are 122 constants, things that do not change,that are continues, eternal, persistent, unceasing and so on. (“I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist,” page 106). It is not possible to cover all these in this short article, let me just show you a few and I’ll come back to them in a later article. I just want to mention some that have to do with our planet.

Our earth is EXACTLY the right size. We are aware of the effects of reduced or increased gravity on the other planets in our solar system. There is either too much or too little. The earth is just the rightsize for its inhabitants. Because of this, water remains in a liquid state. Lesser gravity and the water would be lost to space due to the greater evaporation of cold water caused by lower atmospheric pressure.

The earth spins at EXACTLY the correct speed. The spin of the earth is ideal for producing day and night. Longer days would cause a greater warming-up effect and, conversely, longer nights — colder. A faster rate of spin would produce constant violent weather conditions.

Notice the EXACTLY correct orbit of the earth. It only varies slightly in its distance from the sun, causing relatively small variations in temperature. A more elliptical orbit (as some other planets have)would be devastating for life on Earth.

EXACTLY the perfect distance from the sun. If we were 10 percent closer to the sun, the earth would have furnace-like temperatures, and 10 percent farther away would produce icy deserts. Also, the oceans would boil off or freeze solid respectively so there could be no life as we know it.

And finally, EXACTLY the right construction of the earth offers a vast supply of resources, such as wood, metals, animals, plants, and a host of others that are useful for mankind. In addition, Earth has the right conditions to permit the formation and maintenance of the ozone layer in the atmosphere to protect us. It has a magnetic field which helps deflect harmful radiation from the sun. The magnetic field also aids navigation for man and beast. Our atmosphere is composed of just the right gases, unlike some of the noxious combinations found elsewhere in our solar system. In other words,everything is JUST RIGHT, isn’t that absolutely amazing!? Doesn’t that just thrill your heart?

Now, what does all this mean that everything is exactly right? To what conclusion do we come? It’s been designed that way. And every design has a designer. The universe and the earth have a highly complex design. Therefore, the universe has a Designer. As Antony Flew, the world’s most notorious atheist has said, “We must go where the evidence leads us, THERE IS A GOD.”

“De hemelenvertellen Gods eer, en het uitspansel verkondigt het werk zijner handen.” Psalm19:2. Hebt u ooit in een geopende klok of in een van die moderne horlogesgekeken? Hoe mooi en complex alles is? En als al die kleine deeltjes niet precies op hun plaats zitten dan werkt het ding niet. Zo is het ook met ons heelal en de aarde. Er zijn 122 constanten, dingen die niet veranderen, die standvastig, voortdurend, vast, aanhoudend, enz. zijn. (“I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist,” page 106). Het is niet mogelijk die allemaal in dit korte artikel te beschrijven, ik kom hier later nog wel op terug. Laat me gewoon enkelen vernoemen die met onze planeet te doen hebben.

De aarde is PRECIES de juiste grootte. We zijn ons bewust van de gevolgen van gereduceerde of toegenomen zwaartekracht op andere planeten in ons zonnestelsel. Er is of teveel of te weinig. De aarde is precies de juiste grootte voor zijn bewoners. Dat zorgt er voor dat water in een vloeibare staat blijft. Minder zwaartekracht en het water zou verloren gaan in de ruimte door de grotere verdamping van koudwater veroorzaakt door lagere atmosferische druk.

De aarde draait met PRECIES de juiste snelheid, hetgeen ideaal is voor het voortbrengen van dag en nacht. Langere dagen zouden een groter opwarm effect hebben en, omgekeerd zorgen voor koudere nachten. Een snellere spin zou voortdurend gewelddadige weersomstandigheden veroorzaken.

Let op dat onze aarde PRECIES de juiste baan heeft. Het varieert slechts in geringe mate van de zon, waardoor relatief kleine temperatuurvariaties optreden. Een meer elliptische baan (zoals sommige andere planeten hebben) zou verwoestend zijn voor het leven op aarde.

De aarde heeft PRECIES de perfecte afstand tot de zon. Als het 10 procent dichter bij de zon was, zou de aarde oven-achtige temperaturen hebben, en 10 procent verder weg zou ijzige woestijnen produceren. Ook zouden de oceanen respectievelijk zwellen of bevriezen, en er dus geen leven zou kunnen zijn zoals we het nu kennen.

En tenslotte, de PRECIES juiste constructie van de aarde biedt een enorme voorraad hulpbronnen, zoals hout, metalen, dieren, planten en een groot aantal andere die nuttig zijn voor de mensheid. Bovendien heeft de aarde de juiste omstandigheden om de vorming en het onderhoud van de ozonlaag in de atmosfeer mogelijk te maken om ons te beschermen. Het heeft een magnetisch veld dat schadelijke straling van de zon afleidt. Het magnetische veld helpt ook de navigatie voor mens en dier. Onze atmosfeer bestaat uit precies de juiste gassen, in tegenstelling tot sommige van de schadelijke combinaties die we elders in ons zonnestelsel vinden. Met andere woorden, alles is PRECIES juist, is dat niet absoluut geweldig? Doet dat je hart niet warm worden?

Wat betekent dit dat alles PRECIES juist is? Tot welke conclusie komen we? Het is zo ontworpen. En elk ontwerp heeft een ontwerper. Het universum en de aarde hebben een zeer complex ontwerp. Daarom heeft het universum een Ontwerper. Zoals Antony Flew, ‘s werelds meest beruchte atheïst heeft gezegd, “We moeten gaan waarheen het bewijs ons leidt, ER IS EEN GOD.”

AMAZING THINGS. (2)

The testimony of a boy in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in Africa, proving the power of the Gospel of Christ.

This is a boy named Foster, aged 14, who gave some very interesting comments when I (John, of the Good Hope team) was asking how our lessons helped him (we had gone to his village a few months ago to do all our programs there). Instead of just telling me how he loved the Forgiving Father lesson, he spoke about how his parents have been affected with the lessons and he said “Since my parents came to your programs, my father has stopped beating my mom and I have never seen him drinking again. He would always come home late and they would argue all night and it always ended up with my mom crying after being beaten up by him. I was always scared of what was happening in our family and I thought there was no hope for us and that we would always be like that. But luckily, I saw that they both came to the lessons here and since that day I knew that something definitely changed. My father now works hard to pay for school fees for us and provide us with all our needs at home. I do not know what they were taught in those lessons, but I assure you, it was life-changing. We now live a happy life that I always dreamt of. I am so thankful to God for sending the Good Hope team here to deliver the wonderful news. Even myself, I learned so much about the forgiving father lesson and I understand what that story is all about. I am happy to know that God loves us and cares for us all. Thank God for this ministry.”

How amazing and beautiful.

Yes, the apostle Paul was right when he wrote to the Romans that he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. Het getuigenis van een jongen in Malawi, één van de armste landen in Afrika. Het toont de kracht van het evangelie van Christus.

Foster is een 14-jarige jongen die enkele heel interessante opmerkingen maakte toen ik (John, van het Good Hope Team) hem vroeg hoe de lessen hem geholpen hadden (we waren enkele maanden geleden naar zijn dorp gegaan om al onze programma’s te doen). In plaats van mij te vertellen hoeveel hij hield van de ‘Forgiving Father’ les, vertelde hij hoe zijn ouders getroffen waren door de lessen en hij zei, “Sinds mijn ouders naar uw programma’s kwamen, is mijn vader gestopt met mijn moeder in elkaar te slaan en ik heb hem nooit meer zien drinken. Hij kwam altijd laat thuis en dan begonnen ze te argumenteren de gehele nacht door en het eindigde altijd met mijn huilende moeder die door mijn vader in elkaar geslagen was. Ik was altijd bang voor wat er gebeurde in ons gezin en ik meende dat er voor ons geen hoop was en dat het altijd zo zou blijven. Maar gelukkig zag ik dat ze beiden naar de lessen gingen en sinds die dag wist ik dat er iets definitiefs veranderde. Mijn vader werkt nu hard om voor onze school te betalen en te voorzien in al onze noden bij ons thuis. Ik weet niet wat hen onderwezen werd in die lessen, maar ik kan u verzekeren, het was levensveranderend. We hebben nu een gelukkig leven waar ik altijd van gedroomd had. Ik ben God zo dankbaar dat Hij het Good Hope Team hier gezonden heeft om ons dat wonderlijke nieuws te brengen. Ikzelf ook, ik heb zoveel geleerd over de vergevende Vader lessen en ik begrijp nu waar dat verhaal over gaat. Ik ben zo blij te weten dat God ons liefheeft en voor ons zorgt. Ik dank God voor deze Zending.”
Hoe wonderlijk en mooi. Ja, de apostel Paulus had gelijk toen hij aan de Romeinen schreef dat hij zich niet schaamde voor het evangelie, omdat het een kracht Gods is voor eenieder die gelooft. Het evangelie van onze Here Jezus is niet maar zo een mooi verhaal, het is een boodschap met kracht, kracht om het egoïstische menselijke hart te veranderen. De Hummingbird. Iemand heeft dit vogeltje De “Superheld van de schepping” genoemd. Ik noem het “Gods kleine held.” Het is een verbazingwekkend schepseltje, oordeel zelf maar.

Hummingbirds zijn inheemse soorten vogeltjes van de Nieuwe Wereld en worden niet buiten het Westelijke Halfrond gevonden, behalve in dierentuinen en volières. Ze komen niet voor in Europa, Afrika, Azië, Australië en Antarctica. Er bestaan meer dan 325 unieke soorten in de wereld. Ze kunnen niet lopen of springen, alhoewel hun pootjes wel gebruikt kunnen worden om zijwaarts te gaan als ze neergestreken zijn. Ongeveer 25-30 procent van hun gewicht is in de borstspieren. Dit zijn de spieren die hoofdzakelijk verantwoordelijk zijn voor het vliegen. De maximale snelheid van een voorwaartse vlucht is ongeveer 50 km per uur, maar ze kunnen 90 km per uur in een duikvlucht halen. De Hummingbirds vleugels slaan tussen de 50 en 200 maal per seconde, afhankelijk van de richting, het doel van de vlucht en de omgevende lucht condities.
Ze kunnen voorwaarts, achterwaarts, opwaarts en neerwaarts vliegen. Wonderbaarlijke kleine helikopters. Miljoenen dollars zijn tevergeefs geïnvesteerd geweest in biometrische engineering pogingen om dit complex systeem van biomechanische wonderen te dupliceren. En toch geloven evolutionisten dat willekeurige mutaties, natuurlijke selectie en miljoenen jaren het beter kunnen dan briljante ingenieurs. Het is toch logischer om het briljante Hummingbird ontwerp te verklaren als een schepping van een briljante goddelijke Ontwerper?

IMG_0460.jpgDe gemiddelde hartslag van deze vogeltjes is meer dan 1200 keer per minuut. In vergelijking, de gemiddelde hartslag van een mens ligt tussen de 60 en 100 keer per minuut, in rust. De Hummingbird, als hij rust, ademhaalt 250 maal per minuut, en dat verhoogt wanneer hij vliegt. Om zulk adembenemend metabolisme te ondersteunen, moet dit wonder bijna voortdurend eten om de nodige energie te verkrijgen. Iedere dag moet het nectar opnemen van zo’n 2000 bloemen. Daarbij eten deze vogeltjes ook vele insecten en spinnen, en nippen ze ook sap van bomen of van gebroken vruchten. Hummingbirds zuigen geen nectar door hun lange snavels, ze likken het met hun omzoomde en gevorkte tongen. Capillaire werking langs de rand van hun tong helpt om de nectar in hun keel te trekken zodat ze het kunnen doorslikken. Ze kunnen 10-15 maal per seconde likken tijdens het voeden. Het verteert natuurlijke sucrose – de suiker die zich bevindt in bloemen nectar – in 20 minuten met 97 procent rendement voor het omzetten van de suiker in energie.
De Rufous Hummingbird heeft de langste migratie van alle Hummingbird soorten. Deze hummers vliegen bijna 5000 km van hun broedplaatsen in Alaska en Canada naar hun winter leefgebied in Mexico. De Ruby-throated Hummingbird vliegt 800 km non-stop over de Golf van Mexico gedurende hun lente en herfst migraties.
Deze kleine vogel is absoluut geweldig en een bewijs van onze grote God, de Schepper.

The Hummingbird. Someone has called it, “Creation’s superhero,” I call it, “God’s little hero.”

It is an absolutely amazing creature, judge for yourself.

Hummingbirds are native species of the New World and are not found outside of the Western Hemisphere except in a few zoos or aviaries. There are no hummingbirds found in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia or Antarctica. There are more than 325 unique species in the world.

Hummingbirds cannot walk or hop, though their feet can be used to scoot sideways while they are perched. Roughly 25-30 percent of a hummingbird’s weight is in its pectoral muscles. These are the broad chest muscles principally responsible for the flight. A hummingbird’s maximum forward flight speed is 30 miles per hour. These birds can reach up to 60 miles per hour in a dive. A hummingbird’s wings beat between 50 and 200 flaps per second depending on the direction of the flight, the purpose of their flight and the surrounding air conditions. They can fly forward, backward, upward and downward. Amazing little helicopters. Millions of dollars have been unsuccessfully invested in biomimetic engineering attempts to duplicate this complex system of biomechanical wonders. However, evolutionists believe that random mutations, natural selection, and millions of years can do better than brilliant engineers. It makes more sense to explain the brilliant hummingbird design as created by a brilliant divine Designer.

An average hummingbird’s heart rate is more than 1,200 beats per minute. In comparison, a human’s average heart rate is only 60-100 beats per minute at rest. At rest, a hummingbird takes an average of 250 breaths per minute. Their breathing pace will increase when they are in flight. To support such ‘breathtaking’ metabolism, this marvel must eat almost constantly to get the energy needed. Every day, it extracts nectar from up to 2,000 flowers. In addition to nectar, these birds also eat many small insects and spiders, and may also sip tree sap or juice from broken fruits. Hummingbirds do not suck nectar through their long bills, they lick it with fringed, forked tongues. Capillary action along the fringe of their tongue helps draw nectar up into their throats so they can swallow. It can lick 10-15 times per second while feeding. It digests natural sucrose – the sugar found in floral nectar – in 20 minutes with 97 percent efficiency for converting the sugar into energy.

The Rufous Hummingbird has the longest migration of any hummingbird species. These hummers fly more than 3,000 miles from their nesting grounds in Alaska and Canada to their winter habitat in Mexico. The Ruby-throated Hummingbird flies 500 miles nonstop across the Gulf of Mexico during both its spring and fall migrations.

This little bird is absolutely amazing and evidence of our great God, the Creator.

OVERPEINZINGEN VAN EEN OUDERE MAN. (Inleiding)

God omslag.Het is al meer dan twee jaar geleden dat ik de laatste episode, nummer 200 van mijn “Overpeinzingen” heb geschreven. Deze zijn, zoals velen van u wel zullen weten in boekvorm uitgebracht onder de titel, “De God Die echt is.” Het is nog te verkrijgen bij Dany Decrock, danydecrock9@gmail.com, of bij Bol.com.

Ik wil graag weer gaan schrijven. Ik las onlangs in Psalm 105:1-2, “Loof de Heer, roept zijn naam aan, maakt onder de volken zijn daden bekend; zingt Hem, psalmzingt Hem, gewaagt van al zijn wonderen.” En in Psalm 111:2, “Groot zijn de werken des Heeren, na te speuren door allen die er behagen in hebben.” Ik wil heel graag zijn daden bekend maken en gewagen van al zijn wonderen. Gods wonderen (werken) worden zo’n 40 maal vernoemd in de Psalmen en we dienen daaraan herinnerd te worden. Op de Pinksterdag reageerden de mensen, “Wij horen hen in onze eigen taal van de grote daden Gods spreken.” Ik wil graag over die “grote daden Gods”, die wonderbaarlijke dingen schrijven. Ik wil dingen aanhalen uit de natuur, de christelijke ervaring, de wetenschap, de Bijbel, enz. en ik hoop dat die dingen uw hart zullen ontroeren en warm maken. Als u interessante dingen hebt, bezorg ze mij aub. Ik weet niet hoe dikwijls ik zal iets kunnen posten, dat hang teen beetje van mijn gezondheidstoestand af. Ik hoop spoedig de eerste te plaatsen. Gods zegen toegewenst.

MUSINGS OF AN OLDER MAN. (Introduction).

CoverIt’s been more than two years since I wrote the last episode, number 200 of my “Musings.” These have been, as many of you will know, put into book form with the title, “The God Who is real.” It is still available on Amazon and Chapters, but I also have some left if you would like one. I want to start writing again. I recently read in Psalm 105, “Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people! Sing unto Him, sing Psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works.” Ps.111:2, 4, “The works of the Lord are great; studied by all who have pleasure in them.” “He has made His wonderful works to be remembered.”

That’s exactly what I would like to do, “make known His deeds among the people,” and “talk of all His wondrous works.” “God’s works” are mentioned more than 40 times in the Psalms. And yes, how we need to be reminded of His great works. On the day of Pentecost, “We hear them speaking in our own tongues (languages) the wonderful works of God.” Acts 2. I want to write about ‘amazing’ things. I want to give examples from nature, from Christian experience, from science, etc. and hopefully these will thrill your heart. If you know of any, please pass them on to me. I don’t know how often I can post something, it will depend on my health situation. I hope that I will soon have the first posted. God bless you.
