A New Year’s challenge, but first this:

PURE CHANCE or PERFECT DESIGN?

How about the following, the hatching of eggs, potato bug 7 days, canary 14 days, barnyard hen 21 days, ducks or geese 28 days, mallard 35 days, parrot and ostrich 42 days. Notice that they are all divisible by 7. Seven is the number of completeness and perfection, more than 600 times in the Bible (NKJ version), almost 40 times in Revelation’s. (7 churches, 7 seals, 7 spirits, 7 angels, etc. etc. etc.). And what about these? Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the ring, each orange has an even number of segments, each ear of corn has an even number of rows, each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains, each bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number, amazing. All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks. The waves of the sea roll in on shore with the regularity of a clock in all kinds of weather. Flowers blossom at certain specified times during the day. Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture, and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed.

Is this all by chance or can we admit that there is design? And if there is design, there must be a Designer. And if that Designer, the Almighty Creator, Who is so great that the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, is interested in the details of the hatching of eggs, the fruits, and the grains, the timing of the flowers blossoming, and the regularity of the ocean waves, do you not think He is interested in the details of your life? Why not, at the beginning of a New Year, 2019, commit your life completely to Him, listen to His Word and to the quiet voice of His Spirit, and trust Him to work out the details of your life? Rest and rejoice in Him. Wishing you a wonderful and hopeful New Year, with much of God’s presence, peace, and power. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

 Kijk hier eens na, het uitbroeden van eieren, de aardappelkever 7 dagen, de kanarie 14 dagen, de kip 21 dagen, eenden of ganzen 28 dagen, de wilde eend 35 dagen, de papegaai en struisvogel 42 dagen. Merk op dat ze allemaal deelbaar zijn door 7. Het nummer zeven is in de Bijbel het nummer van volledigheid en volmaaktheid. Komt meer dan 600 maal voor in de New King James Vertaling. Alleen al in Openbaringen zo’n 40 keer, (7 gemeenten, 7 zegels, 7 geesten, 7 engelen, enz. enz.) En dan dit, iedere watermeloen heeft een even getal van strepen op zijn ring, iedere sinaasappel heeft een even nummer segmenten of delen, iedere korenaar heeft een even nummer rijen, iedere tarwestengel heeft een even nummer granen. Iedere bananen tros heeft in de onderste rij een even nummer bananen, iedere rij vermindert met één, zodat één rij even nummers heeft en de volgende rij oneven, wonderlijk. Alle granen bevinden zich in even nummers aan de stelen. De zeegolven rollen naar de kust met de regelmaat van een klok in alle soort van weer. Bloemen bloeien op bepaalde specifieke tijden van de dag. Linnaeus, de grote botanicus, heeft eens gezegd, moest hij een serre hebben met de juiste aarde of grond, de juiste temperatuur en vochtigheid, hij de tijd van de dag zou kunnen weten aan de bloemen die op dat ogenblik open of gesloten waren.

Is dit alles puur toeval of zijn we bereid te erkennen dat er ontwerp is? En als er ontwerp is, moet er ook een Ontwerper zijn. En als die Ontwerper, de Almachtige Schepper, die zo groot is dat de hemel der hemelen Hem niet kunnen omvatten, geïnteresseerd is in de details van het uitbroeden van eieren, vruchten en granen, het tijdstip waarop bloemen bloeien en de regelmaat van zeegolven, denkt u niet dat Hij geïnteresseerd is de details van uw leven? Waarom, aan het begin van een Nieuw Jaar, 2019, geeft u uw leven niet volledig aan Hem, luister naar zijn Woord en de stille stem van zijn Heilige Geest, en vertrouw op Hem om de details van uw leven uit te werken? Rust in Hem en verblijdt u in Hem. Ik wens u een wonderbaarlijk en hoopvol Nieuw Jaar met veel van Gods aanwezigheid, vrede en kracht. Jezus zei, “Vrede laat ik u, mijn vrede geef Ik u; niet gelijk de wereld die geeft, geef Ik hem u. Uw hart worde niet ontroerd of bevreesd.” Joh.14:27.

Something amazing happened yesterday and today that I would really like to share with you as I know some of you are praying for me. Canadians know that we have a free health system, well, not really free because we pay for it through our taxes. However, it is nice to go to a doctor and not have to pay. But there are negative sides too and one is the long waiting periods, especially for hip and knee replacements, sometimes for over one year. The hip specialist wants me to have an MRI of my hip, which will help him find out what’s wrong with it. Two weeks ago, the MRI department informed me that I have an appointment on January 23 at 6.00 am, meaning in 6 weeks and leaving home between 4 and 4.30 am. Last week I phoned the specialist’s secretary and asked whether I couldn’t get in sooner, she answered, “no, this is the way the system works.” So, I talked to the Lord about it. This last Wednesday night, Dec.26, just before going to bed, I all at once got this sort of “happy feeling” inside and the word hospital came to my mind. I thought the Lord was saying, the hospital is going to contact you tomorrow morning and tell you to come in sooner. I waited the next morning, that was yesterday, but, no phone call. I thought, maybe I got it wrong and am I supposed to call the hospital, So I picked up my phone and called the MRI department, gave my name and the date of my appointment, and then asked whether there maybe had been a cancellation. “Just a moment”, the nice lady said, “I’ll check.” A few seconds later she said, “yes, there is an opening tomorrow morning at 9.30 am.” Wow, I thought I was going to fall off my chair. I have had other experiences like this and yet every time when this happens, I am surprised again. I left this morning at a more decent time, 7.30 am and had my MRI done, and I’m back home again, praise God. Now, this doesn’t happen all the time, I do not know why, I do know that God knows and has His reasons, so we just need to trust Him. VERBAZINGWEKKENDE en WONDERBARE DINGEN. (8)

Iedere keer als ik het verhaal in Lucas 2 lees moet ik glimlachen. Hier is deze grote man, Caesar Augustus, de machtigste man in de toen bekende wereld en hij laat een bevel uitgaan dat iedereen in zijn koninkrijk, het Romeinse Rijk moest worden ingeschreven. De arme man die zichzelf heel belangrijk gevoeld moet hebben, had geen idee dat hij maar een pion was in Gods hand. Spreuken 21:1 zegt: “Het hart van de koning is in de hand van de Heer als waterbeken, Hij leidt het overal heen, waar het Hem behaagt.” Caesar besefte helemaal niet dat de almachtige God dit idee in zijn hart gelegd had. En waarom had God dat gedaan? Omdat meer dan 700 jaar daarvoor de profeet Micha geschreven had, “En gij, Bethlehem Efrata, al zijt gij klein onder de geslachten van Juda, uit u zal Mij voortkomen die een Heerser zal zijn over Israël en wiens oorsprong is van ouds, van de dagen der eeuwigheid.” Micha 5:1. Er zijn twee Bethlehems in Israël, maar Micha wees precies de juiste aan, stel u voor, 700 jaar op voorhand. En nu, volgens Gods tijdschema was de tijd gekomen voor die profetie in vervulling te gaan. Maar er was een probleem, want de ouders van de nog ongeboren Heerser woonden niet in Bethlehem maar in Nazareth en God moest iets doen om hen in Bethlehem te krijgen. Hij had een engel naar Jozef kunnen sturen zoals Hij al eerder gedaan had, maar Hij verkoos om Caesar te gebruiken, WONDERBAARLIJK. ”En zij gingen allen om zich te laten inschrijven.” Met andere woorden, het gehele Romeinse Rijk kwam in beweging, al deze mensen, en ze hadden geen idee van wat er eigenlijk aan de hand was. En dit alles omdat een profetie in vervulling moest gaan, en Gods Zoon geboren worden. WONDERBAARLIJK? Inderdaad. Het moet nogal wat tijd gekost hebben om deze gruwzame reis van zo’n 145 km te maken, te voet en op een ezel, maar ze kwamen precies op tijd aan, op het juiste moment en de juiste plaats voor de Zoon van God geboren te worden. God had het zo gepland dat ze die reis niet de hete zomer moesten maken of in de koude winter maar in het zachte voorjaar, juist op het tijdstip dat herders in het veld aan het uitkijken waren naar de geboorte van lammeren. En nu ging Gods Lam ook geboren worden en deze herders die aan het uitzien waren naar pasgeboren lammetjes werden door God uitgenodigd om Zijn pasgeboren Lam te komen zien. Echt WONDERBAARLIJK. Ik loof de Heer hiervoor. Lucas schreef dat “allen ingeschreven moesten worden.” Waarom laat u dit kerstseizoen niet speciaal zijn door uw hart open te stellen voor de ‘Heerser’ die voor u gestorven is, zodat u ingeschreven wordt ……..in Zijn boek.

 

AMAZING THINGS. (8)

Every time I read the story in Luke 2, I have to smile. Here is this mighty man, Caesar Augustus, the most powerful man in the then known world and he issues a degree that everyone in his ‘kingdom’, the Roman Empire should be registered. The poor man must have felt pretty important but did not realize that he was just a pawn in God’s hand. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” He did not realize that it was almighty God who had put the thought in his mind to issue this degree. And why had God done that? Because more than 700 years earlier the prophet Micah had written, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.” Micha 5:2. There are two Bethlehem’s in Israel, but Micah pointed to the right one, imagine, 700 years earlier. And now, according to God’s schedule, the time had come for the fulfillment of this wonderful prophecy. However, there was a problem because the parents of this yet unborn Ruler lived in Nazareth and not Bethlehem, so God had to do something to get them to Bethlehem. He could have sent an angel to Joseph, as He had done before, but He chose to touch Caesar’s heart and mind, AMAZING. Not only that, but it says in Luke 2, “So all went to be registered, every one to his own city. “ In other words, the whole Roman empire came in motion, all these people, and none had any idea of what was really going on. And all this because a prophecy had to be fulfilled, God’ Son was to be born. Again, AMAZING. It must have taken quite some time for Joseph and Mary to make that 90-mile gruesome journey on foot and with a donkey, but they arrived right on schedule, at the right moment and at the right place, for the Son of God to be born. God had planned it so, that they did not have to travel in de summer, the hottest time of the year, neither in the winter, the coldest time, but in the Spring, right at the time that shepherds were out in the fields watching for lambs to be born. And now God`s Lamb was also going to be born, and these shepherds who were looking for newborn lambs were the first to see God`s newborn Lamb, absolutely AMAZING. I just praise God. Luke wrote that “all had to be registered.” Why not let this Christmas season be special and open your heart to that Ruler who died for you, and you also will be registered,…… in His book.

 

If mankind does not want to come to God, God said, “I will come to you.” And He came, not as a ruthless ruler, but as an innocent Babe, amazing. And He did not come to destroy, but to save. “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.” I wrote the following five years ago, and it bears repeating.

The wonder of Christmas:

1. He who was far off has come near
2. He who was invisible has become visible
3. He who was untouchable has now become touchable
4. He who was unreachable has now become reachable
5. He who was seated on a heavenly throne is now lying in a manger
6. He who was worshiped by millions of angels is now visited by a few humble shepherds
7. He who was (and is) Lord, became a servant washing His disciples’ feet
8. He who was rich, became poor so that we through His poverty might become rich! 2Cor.8:9. Oh come, let us adore Him!

AMAZING THINGS. (6)

Did you know that there is a small five letter word that is only mentioned three times in the Bible and all three have the same connection? I’ll explain in a moment, but first this:

Many people do not realize that one of the most AMAZING things on this planet is the Bible, the Word of God also called the HolyScriptures. I could write pages and pages about it. It is absolutely unique. Unique in that it was written over a period of about 1500 years by some 40 different writers, in three languages, on three continents, and yet, it is so one in its content and in its unity. It was the first large book translated, the first sizeable book printed, the Bestseller at all times, and at the same time the most loved and most hated book on earth. It gives us such amazing accurate scientific facts, and how about the many, yes, many hundreds of prophecies, just AMAZING, wouldn’t you say? And what the about the power of God’s word, the power that has changed so many lives all over the world, isn’t that AMAZING? All these things are evidence that the Bible wasn’t written just by men, but as Peter said, “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” 2Pe.1:21. But there is also an inward witness to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. I could give you many examples, but I will just show you one. The one five letter word referred to earlier and which is used only three times in the Bible, is found in Genesis, in Ezekiel, and in Luke. And there is one thing that connects these three, amazing. The word is ‘sweat.’

Gen. 3:19, “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread.” Sweat is the symbol or token of the curse God had placed on the earth after Adam and Eve sinned.

Ez.44:18, “They (the priests) shall have linen turbans on their heads and linen trousers on their bodies; they shall not clothe themselves with anything that causes sweat.” They were not allowed to come into the presence of God with this symbol of the curse.

Luke 22:44, “And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” Jesus sweat because He became a curse for us.

Now isn’t that amazing? Three times and each time in connection with the curse. Only the Holy Spirit could have written that, praise God. I believe we take the Bible too much for granted, it is indeed the most AMAZING book on earth. Read it!
